What to Do about Nasty Garbage Cans
How often does the association check to see that proper garbage containers are being used? When we first arrived here, we received a letter from your office because we left our garbage cans outside of the garage... because we couldn’t get them inside the garage due to moving boxes. For weeks now, one of our neighbors has been using uncovered containers and has not been bagging their garbage. Crows throw paper plates, napkins, etc. on their driveway and then the wind blows this mess into other neighbor’s yards. I have picked up dryer sheets, plates, napkins, candy wrappers, baggies, etc. week after week.
Dan writes in reply:
There is nothing in the Bradcliff Deed Restrictions that addresses the type of trashcan that has to be used, bagging trash, when it will be placed at the curb or gives the association authority to enforce such rules. Trash collection in Hillsborough County is a service of the county provided through franchised collection companies and regulated by the county. The Community Codes Investigator for the Solid Waste Department is Lloyd Humphrey at 813-276-2935. If a resident is creating a mess, he’s the man that will investigate and notify the owner. For detailed information on solid waste rules & regulations, please call 813-272-5680.
