My son Blake's interest in identifying mushrooms on the Appalachian Trail this summer earned him trail name of Fun Guy.  This fall Blake will be putting his knowledge to the test as he attempts to grow a variety of mushrooms (including Shiitake) for Vista Gardens.  All interested parties please call.

Great way to preserve Herbs!

We are providing herb plants this time of year.  Other than drying or dehydrating to preserve them, a recent article in the tribune says freezing them will also work.  The trick is to mince them and then put a tablespoon in each well of an ice cube tray. Fill with water and freeze.  Pop out the cubes and place them in a labeled freezer bag.

For all you fishing this summer, placing the filets in freezer bags and then filling with water and removing all air space is also an excellent way to keep the fish fresh.
